Individual investor services
- Retired investors: Many investors are concerned with the taxes they will have to pay at retirement, not to mention the fact that protecting their capital becomes even more important. In addition to guaranteed securities (GICs, bonds), more fiscally advantageous alternatives could permit you to increase your after-tax yield and obtain larger government payments under the old age security pension (OASP).
- Small business owners: As a small business owner, it is possible for your income to fluctuate from one year to the next, and you may already be assuming the risks related to your business. Furthermore, most small business owners do not have a pension fund to ensure adequate income during retirement. As a result, it is important that together we take the necessary steps to secure your investment portfolio, reduce taxes as much as possible, and define a strategy that will enable you to meet your financial objectives.
- Private company owners or senior executives: Have you already maxed out your RRSP? If so, you and your accountant may have run out of ideas to reduce your tax burden. Some financial strategies could enable you to invest a greater amount of your assets in a tax-sheltered investment and to make them unseizable by your creditors.
- Public company senior executives: If you have many shares and/or stock options of the exchange-listed company you are working for, you may have to pay a considerable amount of tax when you dispose of them in 5, 10 or even 20 years. Furthermore, if a large portion of your net value is invested in the same company, this could prevent you from efficiently managing your investment risk. Some strategies enable you to considerably reduce the taxes that could result during a future sale of your shares, without disposing of them immediately.
